There is a Club Med (Buccaneer's Creek) at one end of the beach as well as a few hotels within easy walking distance in the enormously charming village of Sainte-Anne. Recommended is La Dunette with a great ocean view. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: Visiting Rum distilleries. And there are many of these to be found throughout Martinique; samples are readily offered and bottles of some fine old liquid island products are for sale - many not to be found in North America. There are some vintages for sale that are close to 70 years old! For those who aren't lovers of fine old 'rhums' there is always the unique spectacle of Savane des Petrifications, a nearby field of petrified boulders studded with cactus. ACCESS TO BEACH: Completely open. A mere five minute walk from quaint Sainte-Anne or a one-minute drive with plentiful parking beside some of the beach restaurants. QUALITY OF BEACH: Long stretch of golden sand, hardpacked in some places. The beach is lined with sea-grape and only an occasional palm can be seen; the beach bars provide the only shade. The water is calm and shallow enough for children. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: There is a campsite just across the road from the beach and - most handily - beside many little restaurants. You can rent waverunners and windsurfers as well as an hour's aerial view in the nearby ultralight aircraft out-fitted for water landing; if you take a flight, do bring your camera.
